Donington Park

Donington Park is an automobile racing circuit located near Castle Donington in Leicestershire, England. It’s owned by Jonathan Palmer until 2038, under lease from MotorSport Vision. The track is named after the town of Donington that lies within the grounds of the old airfield that was built during World War II. It’s situated just southwest of Nottingham and southeast of Derby in the United Kingdom. Originally, it was part of an estate that was used as a military vehicle storage depot between the First and Second World Wars when the Silver Arrows were in a European Championship battle. Tom Wheatcroft bought it and revived construction under his ownership in the 1970s, attracting some famous figures such as Jim Clark, Jackie Stewart, and Murray Walker attracted to race at Donington Park for its International Trophy non-championship Formula One race held there since the 1950s.

Calke Abbey

Calke Abbey is a National Trust property in the United Kingdom that opened its doors to the public in 1986. This historic home was an Augustinian priory from the 12th century until it was dissolved by Henry VIII. The abbey’s modern history dates back to 1701 when it began construction as a Baroque-style country home that took two years to complete. The property is currently owned by Nicholas and Edward Wase, who have entrusted its care over to the National Trust themselves due to high inheritance taxees living abroad with their children. Download Festival is the biggest rock festival held in Great Britain in June each year. Dimminsdale Nature Reserve

The Dimminsdale Nature Reserve is located in Leicestershire, England. The whole area has been previously used for mineral extraction which started back in the 18th and 19th centuries. Limestone was used for producing lime and lead for manufacturing. When the mining occurred, most of the land became flooded with glacial clays and streams which continue to flow through it today. Because of this geology, an array of wildlife exists within the reserve including scrub, damp woodland, open water pools and glades. Each springtime brings a spectacular blanket of snowdrops throughout the valley. In 1830 a branch line railway was created to take away the industrial waste brought forth by working nearby mines; however no remnants exist today because most were destroyed or razed during World War II.

The Aeropark at East Midlands Airport is a museum and viewing area dedicated to all things about aviation. In the aviation enthusiasts’ centre, tourists can learn about early models of airliners built without electronic gauges or fuel injection systems. Looking at models from six decades ago, visitors may question the lack of basic amenities which were later incorporated by inventors. Located close to East Midlands Airport’s main departure terminal where many modern aircraft are preparing for departures, the destination serves as an idyllic place to watch them take off and land whichever mound provides an ideal vantage point for planes on the tarmac near the terminal building.
